The works on display are primarily, though not exclusively, works on paper exploring issues of line and space. Maja Kitajewska and Luka Rayski represent a young generation of artists collaborating with the gallery, and their work is conceived as a delicate counterpoint to the historical presentations.
The main part of the exhibition is dominated by historical themes of abstract art, such as space, interiority-exteriority, limitation, delineation, and the disruption of formal arrangement. Stefan Krygier's works echo his research and fascination with ancient Egypt; Roman Owidzki's depiction of abstract objects emerges from the density of delicate lines drawn in ink as if from primeval matter; and Jan Dobkowski's work on paper undulates with the rhythm of parallel lines. Bronisław Kierzkowski's work on paper is a prime example of art that has integrated the experience of industrial machine-likeness, creating images composed of repeated motifs. Also worth noting is a series of relief prints by Ryszard Gieryszewski, whose graphics combine elements of geometric abstraction with evocative traces and symbols. This narrative of abstraction contrasts with the second part of the exhibition, in which the motif that connects the works of Maja Kitajewska, Edward Narkiewicz, and Luka Rayski is the humorous transformation of animals, both formally and literally as representations.
