The beginning of spring is celebrated with an exhibition by three artists of the young generation, whose work in painting and sculpture takes the form of a visual essay on the transience of moments and the permanence of memory.
The exhibition is both an illustration of reflection on the metaphysical dimension of human existence and a reflection on the heritage of the European tradition of art history. Wiktor Dyndo, Maja Kitajewska and Krzysztof Nowicki remind us of the inevitability of the passage of time, drawing on the iconographic legacy of the modern era. Wiktor Dyndo's still lifes in the exhibition are a visualisation of the idea of vanitas, referring at the same time to the 17th-century genre painting of the North. They correspond with the flexible sculptures and paintings by Maja Kitajewska, created using the technique of glass bead embroidery. The naturalistically rendered insects that cover the artist's works are alternately eye-catching in their shimmering appearance and disturbing in their turpish realism. They are looked at by figures from Krzysztof Nowicki's painterly compositions, which are reinterpretations of works by old masters. In some works, the artist also makes use of the illusionistic motif of the veil, which has been explored in art, literature or philosophy for centuries.
