Moumita Basak, Wiktor Dyndo, Anne von Freyburg, Krzysztof Nowicki, Alexander Skorobogatov, Felix Stöckle, Emeli Theander

With the new year, we are opening with an exhibition of five international artists respectively from India, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and Sweden. Their perspectives on key representations in the iconography of art unfold in a compelling way in their works, using a variety of media from textiles to painting to ceramics.
At the core of the exhibition's concept there are both, psychoanalytic theory and the rich tradition of the visual arts. Moumita Basak, Anne von Freyburg, Alexander Skorobogatov, Felix Stöckle and Emeli Theander encourage us to reject rationality and thus immerse ourselves in a waking dream world. The exhibition will include new works by Basak, who was awarded the first prize of the last Lodz International Triennale of Tapestry. Using natural dyes and embroidery, the artist weaves poetic stories about women, their relationships and communities. Also on display will be von Freyburg's fabric work revisiting Fragonard's rococo portraits, as well as Stöckle's humorous ceramic works drawing on the Swiss tradition of dialogue with art brut. In Skorobogatov's canvases, we will see a fascination with colour and form based on botanical motifs, in which the distinction between landscape elements and space is blurred. Fanciful, at times as if anthropomorphic, vegetation will also emerge from Theander's paintings, directing us towards mysterious gardens.
