Arobal

Bartek Arobal Kociemba (born in 1984) is a Polish visual artist and a meditation teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. He studied political science at the University of Wrocław, Christian philosophy at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, and Buddhist philosophy at centers across Europe and North America. He currently lives and works in Copenhagen.

Since 2005, Kociemba has been regarded as one of Poland’s leading illustrators, collaborating with publishers, magazines, theaters, and other institutions. Alongside his illustration career, he has pursued an independent path as a visual artist. Over the years, his practice, initially rooted in illustration and portraiture, has expanded to include animation, spatial installations, and sculpture. In 2019, together with Magda Buczek, he founded VI LEVER PÅ POLSK—an artist-run exhibition space focusing on feminist, queer, and migration themes.
