Wojciech Fangor
Wojciech Fangor was born in 1922 in Warsaw. He studied at Tadeusz Pruszkowski’s and at Felicjan Kowarski’s studio at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, where he later lectured from 1954 to 1961. From 1961 he was working abroad. First he stayed in Vienna, from 1962 to 1964 in Paris, and then in the years 1964 – 1965 in Berlin, where he obtained Ford Foundation Scholarship. After almost a year’s stay in England, in 1966 he settled in the USA, as it later turned out, for 32 years. He collaborated with the New York Galerie Chalette. From 1966 to 1983 he lectured at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, New Jersey, and from 1967 to 1968 at Harvard University. Since 1999 he has lived and worked in Poland in 1999 until his death in 2015.
